Dom Jones Departs

Dominick Jones

Following a management restructure at Sunderland RCA, Interim Manager Dominick Jones has left the club. Jones took over following the departure of previous boss Dave Dickson, stepping up from Reserve Team Manager, and brought stability to the club as well as securing our first win of the season. Jones was offered a role in the new structure but declined to accept as he did not want to step back from his Interim Manager role. The club would like to thank Dom for all his efforts while serving in the role and to wish him every success in the future. We want to make it clear that he will always be very welcome at the Sunderland LGV Park.

Commenting on the departure CEO Dave Edler said: ‘Some decisions in football are particularly difficult to make and this was one of them. Dom has done exactly what was asked of him since taking over. He has steadied the ship, strengthened the squad, changed the culture and attitude of the dressing room and brought us our first win. He is a talented young coach who I am sure will go a long way in the game. However, the Executive Committee felt that to give the club its best chance of survival in Division One this season we needed to bring someone in that was more experienced in recruiting the players we need to get to stay up. Unfortunately Dom declined the offer to step back into a different role and we respect his reasons for that. He leaves with all our best wishes’.

An announcement on the new management structure will be made at a later date.
