RCA’s first team travel to the Daren Persson Stadium this evening (Weds Feb 7th, 7.30 pm) to face North Shields in an Ebac League Division One clash. They will be looking to bounce back from a series of heavy defeats and also end their run of three games without finding the back of the net. This will be the first game between the two sides this season after previous home and away clashes were both cancelled due to the weather.
Like ourselves North Shields have not had their troubles to seek this season and just before Christmas they had to request assistance from the league after their management team and almost entire playing squad departed. Since then they have been bedding in a new squad containing a host of South Shields Academy graduates alongside a few experienced heads. After a shaky start the new look team is starting to see the rewards and on Saturday the new regime gained their first win in a hard fought 1-0 victory against Boro Rangers.
RCA will be waiting on late fitness tests on several players, although Ethan Day and Keigan Turns will both definitely be missing after their recent longer term injuries. Still yet to make their debuts since returning to the club are Reece McEwan and Joe Lennox and one or both may feature in tonight’s squad.
